Program Description:

This program provides a focused update on nutrition and therapeutic strategies across gastrointestinal motility disorders, short bowel syndrome, IBD, pediatric critical illness, and eosinophilic esophagitis. Topics include evidence-based nutrition assessment, metabolic surgery and GLP 1 therapy, optimized TPN models, diet and pharmacologic interventions, and practical tools to improve outcomes in patients with complex gastrointestinal and nutrition challenges.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply evidence-based nutrition strategies to assess and manage malnutrition, sarcopenia, and complex GI conditions including motility disorders, short bowel syndrome, IBD, and pediatric critical illness.
  2. Integrate advanced pharmacologic and therapeutic approaches—including metabolic surgery and GLP-1 therapy, anti-motility agents, diet modification, and emerging eosinophilic esophagitis therapies into multidisciplinary care.
  3. Evaluate and optimize nutrition support models, with emphasis on centralized TPN systems, safe parenteral nutrition practices, and phase specific feeding strategies across diverse patient populations.
